State Boards of Nursing and Travel Nurse Licensing Requirements
It is important to research the nursing requirements in the state where you plan to practice. As a travel nurse, you must have a license or compact license in the state you wish to take an assignment. Registered Nurses with a primary license located in a state that is a member of the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) can practice nursing in the participating compact states without needing to apply for a license. For states that require endorsement to practice – especially top paying travel nursing states such as California and New York – applications can take longer than a month to process so it’s best to start the process as early as possible. Most travel nursing companies offer reimbursement for licensing fees. We’ve complied a list of of State Boards of nursing below to help you gather the state requirements you need.
